TOB GOVERNMENT " BIG FISCAL FAILURE"

TOWN OF OYSTER BAY DEMOCRATIC COMMITTEE CONDEMS TOWN OF OYSTER BAY FISCAL MANAGEMENT AS UNQUALIFIED, UNSCRUPULOUS, AND SHOWING A BRAZEN DISREGARD FOR PUBLIC FUNDS IN LIGHT OF RESULTS FROM NEW YORK STATE AUDIT

OYSTER BAY, NY, – Town of Oyster Bay Democratic Committee warns recent findings from NYS audit of the Republican-run Town of Oyster Bay audit is a stark signal of the Town’s fiscal incompetence and outright disregard for public funds. The report from the year-long audit proves the Town to be both unqualified and unscrupulous in their money management and financial planning.

Despite repeated requests by New York State for a multi-year budget forecast to ensure long-term financial health for the Town, the Town of Oyster Bay told Newsday they are not rushing to create a multiyear financial plan. Finance Director, Robert Darienzo, who served in the financially corrupt Venditto administration, remains working in that same capacity under the Saladino and his Republican sycophants. Darienzo's mismanagement led the Town into Junk Bond Status. Darienzo's brazen disregard for sound financial practices and the State's request for a multi-year plan was recently announced in Newsday: "We don’t see the need at this time. We’re going to do what’s best for us. We’re not going to do what’s best for the state controller’s office."

“It is the height of arrogance to show disdain for their duty to the people,” says David Meijas, Town Leader, Oyster Bay Democratic Committee. “We will be closely watching these breaches of fiduciary duty and other fiscal and ethical violations of law by the Republican-run Town of Oyster Bay and the Town Board.”

It is the responsibility of a municipality to act in the best interest of all people. Yet, Republicans in the Town of Oyster Bay continue to govern with self-serving, deceptive business practices. They have continued to boldly display their callous indifference to legal oversight by State of New York, and objections by Town of Oyster Bay residents.

After years of releasing unchallenged and unaccountable misleading information and for their inability to govern openly and honestly, the NYS audit shines a bright light on the reality of the GOP insiders running the Town. As they continue to line their own pockets, The Oyster Bay Republican machine has no plans for transparent fiscal budgeting.
