OYSTER BAY DEMOCRATS CALL ON REPUBLICAN TOWN SUPERVISOR TO DENOUNCE HEAD OF PARTY DONALD TRUMP FOR EQUATING NEO-NAZIS AND WHITE SUPREMACISTS TO THEIR PROTESTERS
Oyster Bay Supervisor Candidate Marc Herman and the slate of Democratic candidates running for Town Council condemned President Donald Trump for his remarks blaming “both sides” for the white supremacist violence in Charlottesville, Virgina and called on Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino to join them in uniting against the President’s hate filled speech.
“The last few days this country and our Town have been rocked and shaken by the galling and inexcusable words used by our President,” said Marc Herman, candidate for Oyster Bay Town Supervisor. “In situations like this, both Democrats and Republicans should come together to denounce Trump’s remarks, which are deeply offensive to almost anyone who has ever stood up or fought against hate.”
Herman noted that equating violence from neo-nazis and white supremacists to the people protesting them completely demeans the office of the presidency to an unrecoverable degree.
